Two big changes coming to Reddit

Reddit is rolling out new features for the online community platform, the first major update in over two years.
Millions of Reddit users will soon see an additional tab named the “Discover Tab” which will allow users to find new content, communities and join new conversations they may not have been able to find in the past.
The Discover Tab enables new “Redditors” to comfortably ease into the virtual community, making the search for content more accessible.

The way it works is if a user spends a lot of timing in a specific subreddit, let’s say r/gaming, the Discover Tab will learn what the user likes and suggest similar gaming-related content for them to discover.
The update is quite similar to Instagram’s search tab, which displays suggested content depending on who the user follows and posts they interact with.
Other new features will see users be able to sort through their favourite subreddits and communities and filter out ones they may not use as frequently, as well as customise their profiles.

Reddit said their Community and Profile “Drawers”, will make it easier for Redditors to focus on their choice of communities and navigate their profiles faster.
During the testing phase of the Discovery Tab, Reddit said they saw one in five people join at least one new community.
