Accessibility is vital in almost every aspect of our lives, especially when it comes to playing our beloved video games.
Following in the footsteps of Microsoft’s Adaptive Controller, the PlayStation 5 Access Controller finally has a price and release date, meaning that even more players can game on their platform of choice.
The highly customisable PlayStation 5 Access Controller has a joystick and circular pad that allows you to swap buttons and place them whenever you need. In total, there are 19 button caps with 23 removable tags that result in next level button remapping, offering a vast variety of configurations.
What’s more, the PlayStation 5 Access Controller also allows up to 30 different saved profiles, ideal for a wide range of genres and play styles. It has four 3.5mm AUX ports and has the function to pair up to two other Access Controllers as well as one DualSense wireless controller.
“For the past five years, we’ve been on a journey with accessibility organisations and experts to create a versatile controller kit that enables gamers with disabilities to play more comfortably and for longer periods, empowering more players to share in the joy of gaming,” said Isabelle Tomatis, VP, brand, hardware and peripherals for Sony Interactive Entertainment, via the PlayStation Blog.
Tomatis continued: “Thank you to the wonderful organisations, accessibility experts and PlayStation Studios teams who’ve been on this journey with us. We’re especially grateful to all the players who continually share their passion for the games and products we make. We truly believe gaming should be accessible to everyone, and the Access Controller is our latest step toward living up to that promise. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to launch!”
Pre-orders for the PlayStation 5 Access Controller will go live on 21 July, 2023, and it will launch on 6 December, 2023. Interest can be registered on PlayStation.com. The controller will be available via PlayStation Direct as well as select retailers.
The PlayStation 5 Access Controller will launch at a very reasonable price of £79.99/$89.99 USD. Hopefully, this item won’t be gobbled up by greedy scalpers and it will go directly to those that need it most.
