Microsoft has announced the first wave of games coming to Xbox Game Pass in October 2023.
As already announced, co-op focused adventure Gotham Knights is available in Game Pass today, October 3, for Xbox Series X and S, PC, and the cloud. IGN’s Gotham Knights review returned a 5/10. “Gotham Knights is a co-op-centric caped adventure that made my interest Wayne thanks to poor combat, a transparently predictable mystery, and grueling progression,” we said.
Also available today is The Lamplighters League on Xbox Series X and S, PC, and the cloud. This is a day-one Game Pass release from Shadowrun developer Harebrained Schemes and published by Paradox Interactive. IGN gave it 7/10: “The Lamplighters League starts slow, but its mix of squad tactics, stealth, and pulp adventure soon builds momentum thanks to excellent design of both heroes and enemies.”
Here’s what’s coming next to Game Pass:
- Warhammer 40,000: Darktide (Cloud and Xbox Series X|S) – October 4
- Forza Motorsport (Cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X|S) – October 10
- From Space (Cloud, Console, and PC) – October 12
- Like A Dragon: Ishin! (Cloud, Console, and PC) – October 17
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is a co-op shooter set in the grimdark Warhammer 40,000 universe from Fatshark, developer of the excellent Warhammer Vermintide games. It launched first on PC in 2022, with the Xbox version pushed back to make room for updates. IGN’s Darktide review came in at 8/10. We said: “Performance issues aside, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s ferocious battles make for some of the most thrilling co-op action in years.”
Forza Motorsport is the next big first-party Xbox game from Microsoft Game Studios, and as such is a day-one Game Pass release. Turn 10’s racer looks like a graphical showcase for Xbox Series X and S. Check out IGN’s interview with Dan Greenawalt, GM of Forza Motorsport, for more.
As announced, six games leave Game Pass mid-October. They are:
- Eville (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Overwhelm (PC)
- Shenzhen I/O (PC)
- The Legend of Tianding (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Trek to Yomi (Cloud, Console, and PC)
- Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion (Cloud, Console, and PC)
