Deadpool 3 star Ryan Reynolds has asked fans to stop posting spoilers.
Appearing on Instagram, the Deadpool actor made a statement regarding recent set leaks, and asked fans not to spoil the upcoming sequel.
“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies,” he said. “It is important for us to shoot the new Deadpool film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally.
The upcoming Deadpool sequel has been busy filming in the UK for a while, with the cast returning to the set following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA actors’ strike. Recent set pictures have revealed the return of an iconic X-Men character, among other details. However, even before that, we got a glimpse of what the upcoming Deadpool movie might be about.
“Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone,” Reynolds added.
Clearly, filming on location comes with added risks when you’re making one of the most anticipated upcoming comic book movies. “Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready,” he added. “The film is built for audience joy – and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket. I love making this movie.”
IGN’s Deadpool 2 review gave it 7.8/10 and said: “Deadpool 2 eventually draws its disparate elements together, gains momentum, and pushes towards something more closely resembling a traditional finale. In keeping with the rest of the movie, it’s still fairly small-scale and character-focused, and surprisingly, it’s emotionally effective too. Despite the character’s trademark flippancy, there’s a real unexpected warmth to Deadpool 2. Not only does the sequel explore this flawed character, it firmly establishes him as a loveable and effective hero.”
