Gaming giant Fornite teams up with classic tabletop Magic the Gathering

Two of the world’s biggest games in their own right, video game Fortnite and card game Magic the Gathering, have teamed up for an all-new set of cards.
12 cards have been printed, including 7 new spell cards and 5 lands. (Wizards of the Coast)
It’s certainly not new for Magic the Gathering to enter into the realm of video games and licensed products in their 25 years, previously partnering with Street Fighter, Dungeons and Dragons and The Walking Dead.

It’s also not unusual for Fornite and Epic Games to shake things up, with the huge success of their Marvel, Star Wars and various music artist collaborations.
But after the success of MTG’s Double Masters packs, a rerelease of some of the rare cards of recent years, Wizards of the Coast are now set to launch their next big drop.
Releasing on Friday, the new cards will feature some of Fortnite‘s most iconic locations, characters, and moments, all printed into the Magic the Gathering world. 
The cards are part of the Secret Lair packs, a collection of smaller sets that are usually only available for a limited time.

There are two mini The Secret Lair x Fortnite card sets, one consisting of reskins of existing Magic cards and another which wil feature iconic lands and locations from Fortnite.

There’s 12 Fortnite-themed cards, both foil and non-foil, for players to collect.
Magic the Gathering cards like Wrath of God and Smuggler’s Copter, just to name a couple, have been reskinned as Shrinking Storm and Battle Bus. 
Locations from Fortnite‘s island have been reimagined to include one of each of the basic land types.
