Microsoft teams up with Apple, all streaming apps announced for Xbox and PlayStation

The Apple TV app is coming to the Xbox Series X|S on November 10 and will see all of Apple’s exclusive shows and iTunes available on the console.
Xbox revealed a plethora of other streaming services will be available on the new consoles including Netflix, Stan, Disney+, Spotify, Amazon Prime, Twitch and ABC iView to name a few.
The Apple TV app offers access to Apple TV+, Apple’s channels and over 100,000 premiere movies and TV shows through iTunes.

We’re yet to see any sort of media remote for the new Xbox, although it’s confirmed older Xbox media remotes, including the Xbox One’s, will work on the console.
The Xbox Series X has a hidden IR receiver, located behind the controller sync button, that enables you to sync most infrared remotes with the console.
One thing the Apple TV app doesn’t offer on Xbox and PlayStation, unlike the Apple TV device, is the ability to AirPlay your screen or videos from your Macbook, iPhone or iPad directly onto your TV.
So, you’ll still need a traditional Apple TV device if you want to use the AirPlay feature, unless you have a TV with inbuilt Apple AirPlay 2 (check if your TV is compatible here).

Sony announced earlier this month the PS5 will support all the main streaming services and is confirmed to include the Apple TV app.
The PlayStation 5’s sleek, new media remote has shortcut buttons to Netflix, Disney+, Spotify and YouTube, allowing users to quickly switch between apps.
The PlayStation 5 launches on November 12, just two days after the Xbox Series X|S.
